Accompanists wanted for the 2011-2012 season
The Worcester Children’s Chorus (WCC) is seeking accompanists for the 2011-2012 season for all of its treble ensembles. Each of the following choirs are looking for accompanists:
Da Capo, is an auditioned group of boys and girls ages 8-10 with little or no choral experience. Members of Da Capo develop a solid foundation for life-long singing and artistry through coaching in vocal production and musicianship skills. Rehearsals are Wednesday afternoons from 5:00-6:15 p.m.
Young Artists, is an auditioned group of boys and girls ages 9-13 with little or some previous choral experience. The Young Artists ensemble continues to establish a solid foundation in the areas of vocal production and music literacy skills. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Children’s Chorus, is an auditioned group of boys and girls ages 11-18 that have previous choral experience and demonstrate good vocal production. Members of Children’s Chorus build on the foundations established in Da Capo and Young Artists through the artistic performances of more challenging repertoire and further music literacy training. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Tour Chorus, is an advanced, auditioned ensemble comprised of boys and girls ages 11-18 who have demonstrated advanced ability in their musicianship and vocal development. Repertoire for this ensemble is challenging and, therefore, singers must be able to read music and must possess advanced aural skills. Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Candidates must play with sensitivity to musical direction, be a competent sight-reader, and be proficient on piano in a range of musical styles, in addition to prior accompanying experience. The ability to run occasional sectionals is also desirable. Candidates must be dependable, creative, a team player, and possess a love of working with children and youth. Salaries are commensurate with experience.
